Introduction

“Arise my dearest. Hurry my darling. Come along with me! I have come as you have asked to draw you to my heart and lead you out. For now is the time, my beautiful one.” SS 2:10

“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.” Ez. 36:26

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourselfOn these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” Matt. 22:36-40

Did you know that face-to-face interaction between mother and child will cause their heartbeats to synchronize? As is true in the natural, so it is in the spiritual. “Face-to-face” communion with God synchronizes our hearts to beat as one with our Beloved. When we are in deep communion with God, we come to know Him more fully: His passions, desires, thoughts, and emotions. The more we know who He is at the core of His being, the more we experience His heart of love for us and for others. It is out of that revelation that we learn to relate on a heart level with the Trinity and others.

In the broadest sense, the purpose of Allegra Ministries is to know and express God’s heart, and to live in a heart-to-heart relationship with the Trinity and others. This purpose is realized through our fellowship, pastoral care ministries, international missions, and classes.

Jesus expressed His heart of love when He gave us the Great Commandment. Allegra International Fellowship is therefore devoted to living out that commandment in practical ways. In every aspect of our fellowship, we emphasize intimacy with God, finding our identity in Christ, and loving all people. Our Wednesday evening meetings are casual, warm, and inviting. All are welcome.

A vital part of our ministry is our private practice for pastoral care, which encompasses pastoral counseling and spiritual direction, as well as prayer groups and recovery support groups. Our guiding principles for pastoral counseling are to restore the brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3) and to set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1-4). We minister God’s love by facilitating healing, transformation, and empowerment in private sessions and recovery groups. In spiritual direction, our scriptural foundation is the Song of Songs. In that rich poetic book, we find keys to our spiritual journey. In the Song of Songs we see the Shulamite saying to her Beloved: “Draw me into your heart and lead me out. We will run away together into your cloud-filled chamber” (SS 1:4 TPT). The cry of the Shulamite reflects the cry of our hearts, and the ultimate need of our directees. As spiritual directors, it is our privilege to assist sojourners as they are drawn into God’s heart.
